The true dawn

“The true dawn of my life arrives when the day ends,”

in the night my spirit rises from its slumber.

The thirst of my pillow,

is quenched by my gushing eyes.

The daylong hustle hushed the pain

now it yells at me and my lips droop.

My throat becomes aware of its lumps,

the hand fulfills its duty of covering an ashamed face.

The real day begins,

when everyone else is lost to dreams

my beleagured spirit resumes its chores.
